AC Milan January transfers: 6 Signings and 8 departures
The January transfer window ended last night. Six new players have joined AC Milan while eight others have left the club.
SIGNINGS:
Lucas Paqueta – It was AC Milan’s first signing and Leonardo had completed everything months in advance but the fans had to wait until late December for the official announcement. The Rossoneri paid 35 million euros to Flamengo for the best midfielder in Brazil. The 21 year old has become immediately a regular starter at San Siro and his first performances have been excellent. A great investment.
Krzysztof Piatek – It seemed like that departure of Higuain would be a problem for AC Milan but in fact is turning out to be a blessing. AC Milan have made a real bargain signing Piatek for 35 million euros from Genoa. The Polish striker made an flawless first minute debut scoring a brace against Napoli in Coppa Italia. A lethal striker, one that Milan desperately needed.
Leroy Abanda Mfomo – The signing of Leroy Abanda happened with the direct instruction of AC Milan new chief scout Geoffrey Moncada. Moncada strongly believes that the former Monaco defender is one of the best talents of his age and a great investment for the future. The 18 year old centre back excelled in UEFA’s youth league and many expect him to challenge Rodriguez for a starting spot in the coming years.
Tiago Djalo – Another promising defender signed by Moncada and Leonardo. AC Milan signed him on a free transfer from Sporting Lisbon and he will join the Primavera team. The 18 year old centre back has signed a 5 year contract until 2023. Just like for Abanda, AC Milan have big expectations for Tiago Djalo.
Nikolaos Michelis – The 17 year old defensive midfielder cost AC Milan 400 thousand euros. The Greek player arrives from Asteras Tripolis. He has signed a three year contract.
Giovanni Robotti – Robotti was the last signing of AC Milan in January. The 17 year old midfielder arrives from Alessandria Calcio and just like Michelis has signed a three year contract.
DEPARTURES:
Gonzalo Higuain – The Argentine striker decided to cut his loan short and join Sarri in England. The 31 year old debuted in a 4-0 embarrassing league defeat against Bournemouth.
Stefan Simic – The Czech centre back and Primavera graduate joins Frosinone on a six month loan. At the end of the season his contract with AC Milan expires and he becomes a free agent.
Alen Halilovic – The Croatian attacking midfielder failed to make an impact at San Siro. The former Barcelona has joined Standard Liege on loan for the reamining of the season.
Raoul Bellanova – The Italy U-20 international ha signed for French club Bordeaux. The Rossoneri were unable to convince Bellanova to renew so he leaves on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Jacopo Finess, Nicola Torchio, Sergio Sanchez Gioya, Vittorio Vigolo – Four Primavera youngster that will continue their careers elsewhere. Except Vigolo, who leaves on loan, the rest have moved on permanent transfers.
